Clinics and practitioners will sometimes have a filler brand of choice that they use whereas others will regularly use a selection of brands to achieve the outcome you desire. The success of the procedure depends on the product, the touch of the practitioner and your skin. The brand of the filler product is often the most complicated for first timers to decide on as there are just so many options out there. Unfortunately, many limit themselves to the Restylane and Juvederm American products. We use this, along with the various other brands to achieve the look described.
This article is to provide some education on the Neuramis filler, a Korean product. It is a unique product and definitely has its use case which this article will outline so that you are aware of it as an option to consider in future.
What is Neuramis filler?
The Korean aesthetics industry is world leading and many would argue now an equal alternative to the original birthplace in the US. Maintaining a youthful appearance and beauty is very important in Korean culture, hence the popularity of medical aesthetics (Botox and Fillers) procedures there. In fact, many international training conferences are now hosted by Korean doctors and brands.
Neuramis is a fillers product developed and patented in Korea by Medytox. It is approved for use by the European Directorate for the Quality of Medicines (EDQM) and the (Thai) FDA.
It is a unique product, hence its patented technology, and this is due to the way it is made. The Neuramis filler contains a hyaluronic acid base that is non-animal making it very pure, compatible and non-reactive with the human skin when injected. This lends well to treatment in typically more sensitive treatment areas where fillers are used, such as the lips and under eye regions. Hyaluronic acid is a polymer that is found in all living things, including the outer layer of our skin, known as the dermis. Hyaluronic acid is the matrix inside the dermis that keeps the skin plump and elastic by absorbing water, thus appearing smooth and with good volume.
To avoid the hyaluronic acid based filler from being broken down and absorbed too quickly, the refinement process takes the hyaluronic acid base and performs cross linking. This means to say the small polymer strands are bonded into complex molecules and then filtered by molecular size during the process to obtain the final product. By forming complex polymer molecules, it means the filler when injected into the dermis to boost your natural hyaluronic acid is broken down and absorbed much more slowly by the skin, leaving the effects of the filler longer lasting.
There are two types of Neuramis products widely spoken about and used. These are Neuramis Volume and Neuramis Deep fillers. The consistency and use case for each filler differs slightly. Volume, used for volume adding to wrinkles and the deepest saggy regions. Deep is for medium, as well as deep, wrinkles but also chosen for lip fillers, lip contouring and under eye regions as it provides an ideal push up effect.
What is Neuramis Volume?
Neuramis Volume is a fillers product produced by the Korean company Medytox who created and patented the dermal fillers product line. It is approved and widely used in Europe, by the European Directorate for the Quality of Medicines (EDQM), and in Thailand by the (Thai) FDA. It is a dermal filler with a highly purified (non-animal) hyaluronic acid base. This fact makes it very well suited to sensitive skin types as well as giving the appearance of a highly smooth and natural look to the procedure. The Neuramis dermal filler is unique as the hyaluronic acid within it is crosslinked to form complex molecules. These are shown to be much more slowly broken down by the dermal layer in the skin giving a longer life to your fillers procedure.
Neuramis Volume can be recognized from the Neuramis product range as it is packaged in a gold coloured box. Neuramis Volume is described as being thicker when compared to Neuramis Deep. Thus, it would typically be used to boost the volume of the deepest wrinkles but can also be used to provide volume to the laugh lines, jaws and temples. Both Neuramis Deep and Neuramis Volume have been designed as very soft dermal fillers and consequently medical practitioners very infrequently encounter lumps when using the product.
What is Neuramis Deep?
Neuramis Deep is one of many dermal fillers products in the Neuramis fillers product range. Each product has a slightly different, but important, set of properties which may sway your medical practitioner’s recommendation, and indeed your own preference in the filler choice. Neuramis Deep is softer and lighter than Neuramis Volume, and is used for medium wrinkles and lip filler procedures. It also has approvals for use from the European Directorate for the Quality of Medicines (EDQM), and in Thailand by the (Thai) FDA among others.
Neuramis Deep is also a hyaluronic acid based fillers product, manufactured by the Korean company Medytox. Hyaluronic acid is also found in the dermal layer of the skin and it is this natural substance that is responsible for the elasticity, plush and youthful characteristics of the skin. Neuramis Deep is formed from a non-animal based, double cross-linked, hyaluronic acid. To simplify, the non-animal base means it is an incredibly purified substance that is injected, which is beneficial to the more sensitive skins. The cross-linking widely referred to about the product refers to its enhanced longevity when injected as it better withstands the natural breakdown process that occurs with fillers injected into the dermal skin layer over time.
How long does the Neuramis filler last?
As with any fillers treatment the question of how long fillers last depends on your physiology, the choice of fillers product and how much is used. It is quite widely reported that Neuramis Deep dermal fillers last around 9 to 12 months. How does this compare to American brand Juvederm Vobella, the other natural looking and popular choice? Juvederm Vobella is said to last up to 12 months so has the edge marginally as a dermal filler lasting longer but also at an increased price. Many practitioners feel the price to quality ratio of Neuramis Deep is quite optimal for many patients and definitely a high quality product to consider.
The body naturally breaks down filler over time, again depending on your lifestyle and physiology, so while both Neuramis Deep (9-12 months) and Juvederm Vobella (12 months) might last for up to a year, to maintain that optimal result, it is usually recommended to receive top up maintenance treatments every 4- 6 months. After Neuramis Deep you can expect to see instant results with continued improvements for up to 4 weeks after. As mentioned, medical practitioners like working with the soft filler property of Neuramis Deep as it creates an instantly smooth result with lumping rarely ever reported as a complication.
Can the filler be removed?
There are various reasons why one may seek Neuramis filler removal. Unsatisfactory results from unregulated practices or beauty salons often prompt patients to seek removal. The removal process is highly specialized, and it is advisable to inquire about it at the facility where you received your treatment. All licensed and professional providers offer Neuramis filler removal services. Other reasons for removal include lumps that resist massage, filler migration to undesirable areas, sensitivity reactions, or simply dissatisfaction with the outcome.
Neuramis fillers are reversible. An enzyme called Hyaluronidase or Hyalase is injected into the area treated with the hyaluronic acid (HA) Neuramis filler. This enzyme, used in fillers, injectables, and removals, is naturally occurring in the body. The Hyalase or Hyaluronidase enzyme essentially accelerates the natural breakdown of Neuramis fillers in the skin, leading to their absorption and elimination from the area.
The results of Neuramis filler removal are typically fully evident after 72 hours, once any swelling or irritation has subsided. It is recommended to wait 4-6 weeks following a removal procedure before undergoing another filler treatment.
