Thread lift in Bangkok

Thread Lifts

Thread lift is a cosmetic procedure that offers a minimally invasive alternative to facelift surgery. Thread lifts tighten your skin by inserting medical-grade thread material into your face and then “pulling” your skin up by tightening the thread.

The expected result of Threadlifts depend on the quality of the product in use, the physician’s touch and experience, the intimate understanding of the patient’s physiological peculiarities as well as a commitment to the treatment. These are all at the heart of a smooth, natural and harmonious end result.

Dr. Donna Robinson is a qualified Botox and Dermal Filler technician, having trained at Harley Street, England. MedConsult Bangkok Medical Clinic’s holistic approach, choice of products and a deep understanding of the injection techniques is your best guarantee of results of the highest standards.

How soon can you see the results after Thread lift treatment?

The benefits are immediate, and you will be able to notice a tightening and lifting of the skin straight away. However, it will take around two weeks for the collagen production to kick in, after which you will see a difference in the tone, texture, and general quality of your skin.

How long do the results last and how often should I get a Thread Lift?

The good news is that, depending on your age and how your skin responds to treatment, thread lifting may provide better long-term benefits. Some of our patients see results for up to two years before needing to come back for another procedure.   The threads will not slow down the aging process, but they will assist to improve facial features and tighten and tone your skin, as well as diminish wrinkles and lines.

Very rare but possible side effects of Thread lifts

A thread lift is considered a low-risk procedure with minimal recovery time, but after a thread lift, it’s not uncommon to experience the following:

  • bruising
  • swelling
  • bleeding
  • slight pain at the site of the thread injection

There’s a 15 to 20 percent chance of complications, including dimpling. Possible complications are minor and can easily be corrected.

Complications to look out for include:

  • allergic reaction to ingredients in the threading material
  • bleeding as a result of the procedure building up behind your skin
  • visible dimpling or pulling where the threads have been inserted
  • migration or unintended “movement” of the threads that result in skin that looks lumpy or bulges
  • pain under your skin as a result of the thread being too “tight” or awkwardly placed
  • infection at the site of the procedure

Of all the risks of a thread lift, infection is the one to watch out for most carefully. Call us right away if you notice:

  • green, black, brown, or red discharge at the site of your procedure
  • swelling for more than 48 hours
  • persistent headaches
  • fever

What should I know before getting Thread Lift?

  • Smoking and all kinds of alcohol must be avoided for at least one week before the procedure as they can dehydrate the skin and even affect the anaesthetic step.
  • Avoid consuming omega fish oils, vitamin E, chilli ginseng, garlic, krill, and other such supplements at least two days before the treatment. It is best to avoid green and ginger teas as well.
  • Aspirin-based products, like Naproxen/Naprogesic, Neurofen, and Ibuprofen, must be avoided as they can cause bleeding, unwanted side effects and complications.
  • Avoid performing high-intensity exercises and going to a sauna or steam room.

Activities to avoid after Thread Lift

You can resume your normal routine after a thread lift. However, in the weeks following the treatment, we suggest you to not rub your face aggressively, to avoid sleeping on your side and to avoid saunas and high-intensity activities.

For the first few weeks after a thread lift, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons recommends skipping your daily moisturizer and sleeping with your head raised up to avoid turning over onto the newly placed sutures.
